my favorite part in attack of the clones is when obi-wan just fucks off to play space nancy drew on Clone Rain Planet with the alarming giraffe-necked aliens and swans in like “HELLO IT’S ME, the jedi who definitely… … was here before and probably, uh, spoke to you, and stuff” and theyre like “ah you are here for the order” and hes like “beg pardon” and theyre like “the order of millions of identical human men?” and hes like “RIGHT YES. ABSOLUTELY I AM HERE FOR THE ORDER OF MILLIONS OF IDENTICAL HUMAN MEN”
and then later when he SNEAKS INTO A CORNER TO FUCKING… facetime yoda… like “ok so we have these millions of identical human men who were apparently suspiciously ordered for us by someone???” and yodas fucking response is just “when countless sapient lemons life gives you…….. send those lemons into intergalactic battle you must”
and obi-wan’s like “shit man you’re so right"

As someone who use to ID and had to deal with the unpleasant aspects of the community at a young age I am glad people are talking about the very shitty or unhealthy of the Asexual community, but it’s at the point where it’s become a “joke” and instead of being constructive or concern for people who are affected by issues in the community it’s become an excuse to throw rocks.
The debate of “how does the ace community relate/fit with the LGBT” is beginning to devolve into a “why should asexual people even have a community anyways” which is just a gross way of thinking.
I’m of the opinion that the community one should be the toughest and most thoughtfully critical towards is your own, and it wouldn’t be fair for me to talk about problems in ace circles while not thinking about or worrying about bad shit that happens within lesbian communities
The shit with that Damegreywulf/Bizarropurugly/Dandymeowth person is obviously shitty and pathetic, but the thing about them to note is that they arnt actually asexual themself and are just one of those creepy phony “allies” who don’t actually care about other people and to them *social justice* is just a game for them so they can have power and control in these sorts of circles. The fact they brag about the number of randos they can put on a list of *bad people* rather then focus on making accessible posts on legit bigoted or dangerous people show how much of this is all just made as an ego boost for them.
Point is people like Dame can and do weasel their way into pretty much any community based around identity and social issues. I’ve seen ad many “ace exclusionist” or whatever bloggers be just as self serving and slimy as Dame, be wary of anyone who’s politics seem exclusively to portray themselves as *the hero* and an authority figure over vulnerable people, or an excuse to fight and make fun of or threaten others, even if they are on “your side”
Cruises may sink when they collide with something, but there is a place in the world where this works the other way around. Venice is sinking under the destructive effects of these giants.
Venetians have repeatedly thrown themselves into water to try and stop cruises like the one in the picture above from reaching their city. They have been fined for doing so. But they keep doing it. By the way, that picture is not photoshopped.
Every day, up to 60,000 tourists roam through the streets of this city, which only has 55,000 inhabitants. It is not surprising that UNESCO has expressed concern over the “exceptionally high tourism pressure on the city of Venice”.
About 30,000 of those tourists come from cruises.
When each of these cruises arrives to Venice, it looks like a remake of Godzilla, with a huge monster emerging from the sea to make its way through the city. If you have been there, you might have asked yourself “What if one of the maneuvers of that big ship went wrong?”.
But that’s not the reason why Venetians are taking to water to stop these ships. You would assume they are fed up with tourists - which is true, they definitely are - but there’s more than that.
As you might imagine, these cruises are a huge source of pollution. But pollution is not even the main problem here.
The problem is that Venice is sinking. With global warming and the rise in sea level, amidst ever more frequent and intensive flooding, it is clear that this city cannot look to the future optimistically.
Venice won’t be there forever. But it can be helped, we can protect it and if we can’t save it, we can at least make this process slower.
Nature itself seems to try to protect it. This lagoon has always been filled by large watery mud-banks covered with vegetation which acted as a natural barrier from tides. Now this natural barrier is disappearing. A cruise can displace up to 90,000 tonnes of water, this stirs up the lagoon’s sediment, completely changing its seabed and making this city vulnerable to the sea.
If you care about this unique city, if you want to preserve its beauty and let future generations enjoy it as well, please don’t buy a ticket for one of those cruises.
